Youth with Disabilities Strive to Accelerate Results (YStar) Project-to-Program

The YStar Project-to-Program has the overall objective to increase the operating capacity of Eviance in governance, leadership and operations, partnerships and overall impact. This Project is an Operational Grant funded by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC): Social Development Partnership Program – Disability Component (SDPP-D) from 2023-2026.

The Eviance YStar Fellowship Program enhances leadership skills and provides community leadership opportunities with and for youth with disabilities in a national disability organization. This program is co-lead by youth and builds on a previous three-year Youth Leadership Project (2020-2023).

YStar Fellows play an important role in co-creating a sustainable leadership curriculum for this pilot Project, and have the opportunity to embrace Eviance’s intersectional, human rights and reflexive approach. Fellows will work through learning modules on intersectionality and reflexivity, human rights and the United Nation as Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), community-based projects, and ongoing Professional Development Plans (PDPs). Each Fellow will have the opportunity to engage in a meaningful community-based placement with an Eviance partner organization.

This funding also enables Eviance to further enhance organizational governance and leadership capacity. Eviance is committed to the integration of youth-led structures throughout the organization. This includes the inclusion of its Eviance Youth Committee (EYC) as a Youth Council, and meaningful engagement of youth in all organizational and project activities.
